Hi all,
anyone on here use cdex? if so, I'm having problems getting it installed properly. there's nothing more frustrating than knowing you will love a program if it willl only install right, and you can use it, but it won't. A friend of mine sent it to me through skype, version 1.4, but when it sayslicense agreement dialogue, there is no license agreement, and when i'd tab to a read onkly edit box, it was just explainingwhat cd does. for those who don't kinow but are interested, cd will rip songs from a cd on to your hard drive. So when it skipped the license agreement, there was a next button, and you are asked to choose the folder will cdex will install, and it installs it in c:programfilescdex. then the next button asked you to choose the type of install, full, (recommended), no shortcuts, and custom. I chose the full, and it installed very fast, but when I tried to open it, it put me on the next button, cancel button and that read only edit where it explains what cd is. A friend of my friend said we probably had a bad skype file transfer, so i went to the jfw lite homepage, and it had version 1.5, and basically the same thing happened, except i got a dialogue saying failure to load the wnaspi driver, and asked if i wanted to use the native scsi driver instead. I was scared to take that chance, not knowintg much about drivers, only what i read in pc magazines like smart computing and pcworld. although I can't open the program, I can open the help topics, and it sayd to make sure you installed the aspi driver, since it needs it to communicate. I went back again, and now jfwlite has 1.51, and there were 5 options i missed. after you choose the type of install, there are 5 items in a list view, and the third one, jaws only says not selected 3 of 5, so i don't know what that is. the other 2 main choices i seemed to have were essentia, and automatically configure. That still didn't work, but i'm not the only one havingt this problem. one other person tried to install cdex, and he was brave enough to let the program use the native scsi driver, but it still didn't work. naturally, i'd rather use whatever driver it says it needs, but it won't install it. Does anyone here have cd, and have you ever run in to this problem. the 2 people i talked to have it and still aren't having any problem with what they have, but this makes one other person who has the same problem i have. If i can't make it work, I'll probably have to study the tutorial on exact audio copy, and try that, but it sounds really hard, and I'm not sure i can do it, especially since you have to type text strings, and that i'm notgood at or keen on. Anyone have any ideas what the problem with cdex is?

Hi Wonderwoman.
I use this programme and i am happy with it. I also got the message about the driver but i answered yest to the question about the olternative driver and it works fine. But i don't understand why this driver is not incluted anyway. But it works fine for me with the other one. Good luck.
And i have got the 1.5 version i think. The 1.4 it must be an older one so it means there are probaply more problems with it.
Usually latest versions are bettern appart from the time when they change the layout and they are no longer accessible and in that kace we stay with the older versions.
I'm glad it works for some people. I thought maybe the program was just too old for my computer. the person i talked to says mine isn't any olderthan his, since he got his new computer only a few months before i did, but he probably downloaded it a year ago, whereas i just downloaded it a few days ago. oh well, thems the breaks.
